Fitness apps are creating problems where there were none

For me, fitness apps seemed like adding problems to one of the few areas of my life where there weren’t any

At the time of writing, I have traveled 17,729 steps today. I can tell you this because I’m wearing a Jawbone Up24 tracker, which is something I swore I would never do, not in a million years. It’s also statistically unsurprising that I would be so resistant: about half of owners of fitness trackers are under 35, and at least one-third are earning over $100,000 a year, and I am neither.
