Why Facebook really needs to Watch it

The social media giant covets a piece of the YouTube and Netflix market’s action, but the launch of its new venture hasn’t exactly gone according to plan

Facebook finally entered the broader world of on demand video last week, with the global rollout of Facebook Watch. Essentially a hybrid of Netflix and YouTube, it’s an effort from the social media platform to get more eyeball time from the trend of cord-cutting, albeit one that’s hedging more than a little.
