The Data Protection Commission (DPC) has asked Facebook for an “urgent briefing” on its plans to integrate its WhatsApp and Instagram platforms.

The watchdog said it would be scrutinising the plans very closely, particularly if they involved the sharing and merging of personal data between the three Facebook businesses.
