Irish Data Protection Commission overruled on Meta decisions

Facebook parent Meta cannot force users to agree to personalised ads, according to a new ruling that overturns a draft decision made by the Irish Data Protection Commission.

"This is a huge blow to Meta's profits in the European Union,” said Max Schrems, the Austrian activist. He filed a complaint against the tech giant after alleging it was looking to “bypass the GDPR”, the European Union’s privacy rules.
