Lay-offs are still very much in focus in the tech world, unfortunately, with Facebook parent Meta this week starting its latest round of job cuts and extending its hiring freeze. The company slashed around 13 per cent of its workforce, or about 11,000 jobs in November, with about 350 roles going locally.
Meanwhile the online recruitment company Indeed was in the news after we revealed that the 225 employees who are set to lose their jobs here are unhappy with the severance package on offer, and more broadly with how the firm has handled the whole procedure. Yesterday evening, it emerged that Indeed had improved the severance packages, although still not to the extent that departing staff are happy.
