The biggest warning yet on the dangers of artificial intelligence (AI) came this week as a group of experts warned the technology should be considered a societal risk and treated with the same urgency as pandemics or nuclear war.

Elsewhere, Prof Yousha Bengio, regarded as one of the “godfathers” of AI, said all companies building AI products should be registered, with those working on the technology subject to ethical training.

One company to benefit from the fuss over AI is chipmaker Nvidia, which briefly hit $1 trillion in valuation on Tuesday placing it in an elite club that includes Apple, Amazon, Alphabet and Microsoft.
