When it comes to technology, 2019 didn’t so much fly by as feel like three or four years merged into one. It had it all: 5G, political fallout over broadband, privacy concerns and lots of new gadgets – and that was just Huawei.

In gadgets, it was a breakout year for digital assistants, while laptops reached new heights and the smartphone wars resumed with a vengeance. But any lookback at the past twelve months...
