It may have been a cold January across Ireland, but the cockles of many a heart (in the motor industry and government alike) were warmed last week when the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) released new car sales figures for the first month
A total of 29,948 new cars were registered in January, representing an astounding 31 per cent increase on the same month in 2014. That’s despite the fact that 2014’s figures were considerably up on 2013’s. Projections for the full year vary from a conservative 100,000 cars to as high as 120,000 units.
