As the country prepares for the next phases of gradually re-opening the economy, Mark Scott-Lennon is hoping for a summer of ‘staycations’ at the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel.

Lockdown restrictions have seen the hospitality and tourism sectors grind to a halt. Pre-pandemic the Killiney hotel employed 155 people. It has retained 30 staff with aid from the wage subsidy scheme while the remainder are receiving the pandemic unemployment payment....
