RTE refuses to show McGregor ‘hero’ beer commercial
Concerns raised that advert could appeal to children
RTE is refusing to broadcast a Budweiser TV ad starring UFC champion Conor McGregor, because of concerns over a breach of advertising regulations.
Current advertising codes prohibit marketing from alcohol brands that is directed at children or could in any way encourage them to start drinking. As a result it specifies that marketing should not use or refer to identifiable “heroes of the young”.
