THE ORGANISATION

Shannon Group plc is a commercial semi-state body set up in the late 2014 bringing together Shannon Airport Authority, Shannon Commercial Properties and Shannon Heritage under the one Group and supports the growing aviation cluster at Shannon through the International Aviation Services Centre (IASC) brand.

Shannon Group plc employs over 650 people at peak season with total revenues of c€78m. Although State owned, the Group is funded exclusively through its own resources. The Group’s five-year strategic plan is aimed at continued revenue and profit growth, with a focus on innovation and securing a sustainable cost base through efficiencies.

Since becoming an independent entity in January 2013, Shannon Airport has enjoyed over 30% growth in passenger numbers and increased revenues, supported by an on-going capital investment programme.

The IASC is focused on expanding the cluster of aerospace companies in Shannon.

Shannon Group’s property company, Shannon Commercial Properties, is a commercially-focused property development company, managing and developing an extensive commercial property portfolio in the wider Shannon region.

The Group’s tourist and heritage company, Shannon Heritage is Ireland’s largest commercial operator of tourist attractions. The Company manages a variety of world-leading immersive day visitor experiences and evening entertainment events in Clare, Limerick, Galway and Dublin.

THE JOB

The Board of Shannon Group wishes to appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will build on its significant achievements in recent years and focus on the implementation of Shannon Group’s Strategic Plan, in which growth and revenue generation will be the key indicators of success. He/she will require an ability to demonstrate strategic vision in order to allow the Group to continue to transform and advance. The CEO will lead and develop the Senior Management Team to deliver passenger and visitor growth, continuous productivity improvement, enhanced customer service, and other operational improvements within each business, optimising all possible synergies across the Group. Engaging with a wide range of business partners and investors for various infrastructure projects and business development opportunities, the basis of the CEO’s approach will be authentic stakeholder engagement and a demonstrated commitment to on-going consultation and support.

THE PERSON

The ideal candidate will:

• have a track-record of significant achievement as a CEO or Senior Executive, operating at Group and Board level in a diversified business;

• have experience in the aviation, airport or airline sector;

• be commercially focused and possess strong financial acumen with proven teamwork abilities;

• articulate a vision for future growth opportunities to pursue new business ventures in a pioneering way;

• have the communication, influencing and political skills to manage a wide range of stakeholder relationships across the public and private sectors.
