Thinking differently about housing - and greed

Many might claim that developers are avaricious - but their work is full of risk, whereas civil servants have jobs for life and gold-plated pensions. Perhaps they’re not greedy, but cautious

I was at a housing talk a while ago and heard an analogy that really hammered home the reason for people not understanding how development works.

Too often in the national debate we hear about developers seeking high profits as if that’s the core problem. In fact, they can only seek a margin above costs in the same way a shop can only seek a margin or mark-up on costs.
