‘Sheds to beds’ trend gathers pace in Dublin

Several developers are using former industrial unit sites to the southwest of the capital to create large-scale residential complexes

The pace at which industrial units, often termed sheds, can be transformed into apartments appears to be gathering momentum in an area of southwest Dublin between the Naas Road in Dublin 12, Nangor Road in Clondalkin and Belgard Road in Dublin 24.

Since the beginning of May, three companies have signalled plans to seek fast-track planning permission for more than 1,800 residential units on three tracts of land formerly in industrial use.
