A rose-tinted garden is hard to beat for real value

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but if that rose turns out to be a weak and spindly disease-prone specimen, the beautiful scent soon reeks of disappointment. If only there was a way to easily identify good garden roses that will not disappoint – if only we had the Oscars or Baftas of Roses, telling us which roses are the ones to look out for.
