Sale in London this week offers three Irish landscapes
A world away from the glittering goings-on at the Place Vendome, a Bonhams sale in London this week offers three Irish landscapes. Two are everyone’s idea of rural Ireland: Maurice MacGonigal’s Mountain Bog, Inverin, Connemara, 31x41.5cm (£2,000-£3,000), and Cecil Maguire’s View of Croagh Patrick, County Mayo, painted in 1961, 41x51cm (£3,000-£4,000). The cottage, roofed in thatch and corrugated iron, is humble, but the view is sublime.
