Francis Bacon posing with a triptych in the Claud Bernard Gallery in Paris
Slea Head on the Dingle Peninsula in Co Kerry has been painted ad infinitum, but the most inspired depiction I’ve seen is Cecil Maguire’s, currently on offer in Morgan O’Driscoll’s Off the Wall online sale – bidding ends tomorrow.
Painted in 1987, it measures 45.5x91 centimetres, estimate €2,500-€3,500. Other notable landscapes include Kenneth Webb’s The Twelve Bens, Connemara, 31x87 centimetres (€2,500-€3,500), and Harry Kernoff’s 1931 Landscape, 33x38 centimetres (€1,200-€1,800).
