Despite the controversy surrounding ivory products, they are still a popular item at auction

Going under the hammer today at Adam’s is an exquisite 19th-century Chinese ivory basket carved by a master and expected to fetch €2,000-€3,000. The hottest of hot potatoes, ivory is the subject of the most contentious debate the antiques trade has seen in decades.
