Energy-efficient homes have great benefits for owner-occupiers, but any Britain-style efforts to force landlords to improve BER ratings could backfire on tenants

For the last ten years, any property offered for sale or rent in Ireland has been required to have a Building Energy Rating (BER). A BER is a measure of the overall energy efficiency of a building. It runs on a scale from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient).
