Young people can’t afford to buy homes because the wealth is being held by the older generation – and we’re all okay with it

For the last few generations, people tended to live according to a largely predictable pattern: they got married in their early 20s, bought a home, worked a permanent job for a very long time, had a short retirement and then died.
