This weekend, an unusual harvest begins in an orchard just outside the village of Lusk in north Co Dublin. Plump rondo grapevines are ready to be picked and will be used to make Ireland’s only domestically-produced wine, Lusca.
Recent Lusca wines are described as being of real charm and quality. This shows that Ireland has potential as a ‘left-field’ wine-producing region, and the work being done here by David Llewellyn may well inspire others...
