Building near rail routes could fast-track affordable housing

If we want to solve the housing crisis, we as a nation need to say yes to development - even in our own backyard

Last week, South Dublin County Council voted to defer until October a ballot on proceeding with the Kilcarbery masterplan. The proposed development would see 975 homes, including 294 social housing units, built on 72 acres of council land at Kilcarbery in Clondalkin, Dublin 22.

Once again, local government is doing its bit to ensure delays in development and helping to keep house prices higher than they ought to be.
