1916 tricolour leads the charge in historical sale

In 1930, a man walking along the shores of the Danube spotted the glint of gold in the grass. It was a Celtic twisted gold torc dating from 1200-500 BC. Assayed at the time, it weighs 103 grams of 24 carat gold. To be sold by the finder’s grandson at Whyte’s, it is expected to realise €8,000-€10,000.
