What Budget 2016 said about payments

In his budget speech last week, the Minister for Finance announced that the transaction limit on contactless payment cards is being raised from €15 to €30 from October 31. Also, in a bid to encourage greater usage of card payments, he announced changes to the costs faced by consumers.

From January 1, the current €5 stamp duty on debit/ATM cards will be removed and replaced with a 12 cent charge per ATM transaction.
