Brexit day - if it ever actually happens - may come to define Leo Varadkar’s premiership. But there is another date, Friday, May 24, that is just as important to the Taoiseach’s future political prospects. It is the day of the local and European elections, and it will be the Fine Gael leader’s first electoral outing since he took office nearly two years ago.
