Unionist MPs in the minority for first time as moderates make strides

Northern Irish unionism has been left reeling after a Westminster election that returned more nationalist MPs than unionists for the first time.

The most symbolic result came in North Belfast, where John Finucane of Sinn Féin unseated Nigel Dodds, the DUP’s Westminster leader, to leave the constituency without a unionist MP for the first time since partition.
