Around two-thirds of people want the government to extend the lower Vat rate for hotels and restaurants beyond its current cut-off date next month.

The lower 9 per cent Vat rate for the hospitality sector was originally introduced as a support when restaurants and hotels were operating under Covid-19 restrictions in November 2020. It has been extended several times since at a cost of €900 million to the exchequer.
