Party in full swing for wannabe newcomers

Unlike Donald Trump, who paid actors $50 each to cheer at the launch of his US presidential campaign, there was no rent a crowd for the Social Democrats

The enthusiastic crowd assembled for the launch of Ireland’s newest political party was made up mainly of the supporters of Catherine Murphy, Róisín Shortall and Stephen Donnelly – all TDs with strong organisations behind them.

Murphy in particular has been on a roll lately, with her relentless questioning of the controversial sale of Siteserv to businessman Denis O’Brien leading to a Commission of Inquiry.
