Britain’s Brexit negotiators have been told to “step up a gear” as Boris Johnson prepares to hold talks with Leo Varadkar in New York this week. The Taoiseach arrives in the US on Monday for a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly and to promote Ireland’s bid for a seat on the UN Security Council, before travelling on to Los Angeles on a trade mission.
