State has paid over €1m for Apple advice

In response to parliamentary questions from Sinn Féin TD Pearse Doherty, Paschal Donohoe confirmed that over €1 million has been spent on advice in relation to the recovery process by various state bodies

The state has paid out over €1 million for advice on how to hold the Apple state aid billions in escrow despite so far failing to collect the money.

Although the Irish government is appealing the controversial European Commission ruling last year that it is owed €13 billion in unpaid taxes by Apple, it is required to hold the money in an escrow account pending the court case.
