State cut core funding for third level and used business levy
The government used increased third level funding from businesses to cut its own core contribution to colleges and universities by €15 million, it has emerged.
Last year, employers were hit with a training levy increase of 0.1 per cent for the second year in a row, which brought in an extra €92 million for the exchequer.
