SMEs deserve better: not some day, but now

So, the official charm offensive on the backbone of the Irish economy – the self-employed and small business owners – has officially begun. Bravo.

The government has committed to reducing the tax burden on the self-employed in the coming budget, as well as introducing a number of SME-friendly measures.

Michael Noonan, the finance minister, will even highlight the issue in the upcoming Spring Statement, where he will pledge to end decades of tax discrimination against hundreds of thousands of self-employed workers.
