Sinn Féin wanted smaller parties to commit to serving in a future Northern Executive before proceeding with negotiations on a possible programme for government in Stormont talks last week.

The party leader, Mary Lou McDonald, made the demand at the start of the fresh talks process which aims to restore the Northern Executive and Assembly, which collapsed in January 2017.
