SF councillor in dispute with party on bullying claim

A Sinn Féin councillor has alleged he was warned that he would be “taken out” if he did not withdraw as a general election candidate.

Paul Hogan, a three-time election candidate and former Athlone mayor, has said party members in Longford-Westmeath initiated a sustained “defamatory and slanderous witch hunt and smear campaign” against him.

Hogan submitted a dossier to the party which insisted it has dealt with his complaints.
