Waiving the right to anonymity shouldn’t be necessary if the system fails you

Too often, rape victims go public because they feel let down by the criminal justice system.

Niamh Ní Dhomhnaill made that decision and spoke on radio last week after her ex-boyfriend Magnus Meyer Hustveit walked free from the Central Criminal Court with a suspended seven-year sentence for rape.

He had admitted raping her up to ten times as she slept, and often while she was under the influence of medication.
