The government is drawing up legislation for a referendum next May to allow 1.8 million people in the North to vote in presidential elections.

The Amendment of the Constitution (Extending the Franchise at Presidential Elections) Bill will also provide for 1.7 million Irish citizens living in all other countries around the world to vote in the next presidential election in 2025.
