Rare bird of prey stalls planned mountain bike trail

A rare bird of prey is being blamed for blocking the construction of a €2 million mountain bike trail in the Slieve Bloom mountains.

The project is being backed by Coillte, which is prepared to supply the land for what is being touted as a major national tourist attraction. But it has been stalled due to the presence of the hen harrier in the Slieve Blooms.
