Bertie Ahern condemns Omagh shooting of police officer as ‘shocking’ and ‘callous’

Bertie Ahern has described as "shocking" and "callous" the shooting of an off-duty police officer in Omagh yesterday evening.

The former Taoiseach was speaking at an Ibec event this morning in the Mansion House in Dublin marking the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

Ahern said the shooting overnight was a reminder that there were still “evil people” who were willing to carry out terrible acts of violence.
