PAC writes to Central Bank in Garda credit union inquiry
Social Democrats TD Catherine Murphy has questioned whether there were any “potential conflicts of interest”
The Dáil’s Public Accounts Committee has written to the Central Bank to seek information around the governance arrangements in the Garda credit union.
The Garda Commissioner, Nóirín O’Sullivan, has said the St Raphael’s credit union is an “independent financial institution” that is “separate entirely” from An Garda Síochána.
O’Sullivan told a meeting of the committee last week that those involved in the credit union would “not necessarily” be drawn from the force.
