Ó Cuív kicks up stink over lack of sewage treatment on island

The lack of a sewage treatment plant on the country’s most popular tourist island has been branded a “disgrace”.

There are around 760 people living on Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran Islands off the coast of Galway, but the population increases significantly during the tourist season.

Locals are complaining about smells and ill-health due to malfunctioning septic tank systems on the island which are affecting both them and the tourists.
