Noonan set to overhaul tax appeals system

Minister for Finance Michael Noonan is overhauling the tax appeals system after complaints that it was too costly.

He is going to increase the number of Appeal Commissioners from two to three and appoint them to a new body called the Tax Appeals Commission. This independent body will deal with appeals from 1.3 million active taxpayers and 100,000 companies.
