No more bricks in the Wall
Exactly 25 years ago today, while covering the collapse of communist eastern Europe, I witnessed the breaching of the Berlin Wall, writes Tom McGurk.
It is all like a dream now. The events were so unpredicted, the moment so charged, the images so extraordinary. There’s something of all this captured in the picture. For one thing, the theme of the day is unmistakable; the overwhelming sense of the complete collapse of authority among West and East Berliners.
