New home building rises 35 per cent nationwide

The number of new homes built this year in Dublin is up by 173 per cent in a sign of the continuing recovery in the property market.

There has also been a strong rise nationally, with house building up by 35 per cent in the first ten months of the year compared to the same period last year.

New figures from the Department of the Environment show that a total of 8,796 homes were built by October.
