Naughten says €3bn broadband plan is justified ahead of cabinet sign-off

Former Minister for Communications Denis Naughten has said that the estimated €3 billion cost of providing broadband to rural Ireland will be justified by more jobs and better public services.

It is very likely that current Minister for Communications Richard Bruton will bring a memo to cabinet on Tuesday seeking approval to sign the broadband contract with the sole remaining bidder, the Granahan McCourt consortium led by Irish-American businessman David McCourt.
