Murphy pushes to transfer water staff despite union pressure

Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy has ramped up plans to transfer thousands of local authority staff into Irish Water despite union opposition.

The Department of Housing and Local Government last week asked Irish Water’s parent company Ervia, local authority representatives and trade unions to finalise a framework for transferring up to 3,500 council water service workers into Irish Water by the end of next February.
