The new White Paper on Defence is comprehensive and pragmatic in its creation of a vehicle in which the Irish state can navigate the sea of threats on which we will sail over the next decade or more.

Thankfully, a recent Defence Force threat assessment does not put Ireland top of the list for either a terrorist attack or indeed a conventional incursion from a belligerent nation.
