Ministers to discuss EU plan to extend stay for Ukrainian refugees

It’s not clear yet whether the government supports the European Commission’s plan to extend temporary directive that would allow Ukrainian refugees to stay in EU member states until 2024

Micheál Martin, the Taoiseach, and key ministers are to meet next week to discuss plans for accommodating Ukrainian refugees in the “medium to long term”.

There are around 53,000 Ukrainian refugees here under the EU’s temporary protection directive, which is due expire in March next year.
