McDonald’s SF shifts focus from austerity to prosperity

McDonald said that, under her leadership, Sinn Féin would work for a prosperous society based on fair, progressive taxation and the equitable distribution of wealth

The new Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald has signalled a shift in the party’s economic policy, from a focus on austerity to “prosperity”.

McDonald was elected unopposed as party president yesterday at the RDS in Dublin, marking the end of Gerry Adams’s 34 years in charge.

She said that, under her leadership, Sinn Féin would work for a prosperous society based on fair, progressive taxation and the equitable distribution of wealth.
