May can speak to the British people about Brexit – but she has to speak to the people who matter

It is very difficult to put the squeeze on wavering MPs by trying to get millions of people to apply pressure on them. It is much more effective to use some levers on them directly

British Prime Minister Theresa May is going on a nationwide tour to save her Brexit plan ahead ofthe crucial vote in the House of Commons next month.

But if she does not engage in some old fashioned political wrangling with her Conservative MPs behind the scenes, then it is doomed.

Going above the heads of her MPs to talk to the public only makes sense in one way. It allows May to dominate the airwaves, to keep the focus on her message thatfailing to back the deal will take Britain “back to square one”.
