A close ally of Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin is facing legal action over comments made about another councillor during a heated council meeting last month.

Fianna Fáil councillor Terry Shannon accused Workers’ Party councillor Ted Tynan of being anti-Semitic during a meeting of Cork City Council last September, after Tynan had raised issues around alleged Israeli involvement in a company advising Irish Water.
