Ireland must balance wage increases for lower paid workers carefully, the chief executive of British superpub chain Wetherspoons has said.

Tim Martin, who has opened five pubs in Ireland in recent months, endorsed the Irish low pay commission model, but cautioned against initiatives similar to British chancellor George Osborne’s recent ‘living wage’, which he says will put pressure on the pub trade.
